Joyce Ann was born in Chicago, IL. She obtained a BA in Psychology from Governor's State University in 1987, a BA in Creative Writing & English from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022 and is currently working on her MFA in Creative Writing from SNHU. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta & the National Society of Leadership & Success. She spent 20 years working in the mental health field. She has since retired to work full time on her writing. She resides in a south suburb of Chicago with her husband, cat and guinea pig.

Joyce Ann began playing guitar at the age of 5 and after being told she would never be able to play because her fingers were "deformed," she decided to prove them wrong and taught herself. She began writing songs at the age of 13. "Sunlight's Coming," was the first song of many to come. Her songs are written from the heart, each entails a story.

Joyce Ann took her first creative writing class in high school & developed a passion for storytelling. As mentioned before, her storytelling came in the form of songwriting for many years. Her novellas Eliza Jane, published in 2011 & Eliza's Revenge (2023), came from her love of the Victorian Era. She has since been working on her MFA thesis project (a publication ready novel) & other short stories, while consulting aspiring authors.
